AAU to Replace Police with Civilian Force Soon
Addis Ababa, September 06, 2001 (ENA) - Efforts to replace the Addis Ababa University
(AAU) police guard with civilian force is nearing completion, the university said.\
Manpower and general services department head with AAU, Mekonen Abraha, told ENA
yesterday that 272 civilian guards were attending a two-month relevant training.
It was expected that the trainees would graduate and be deployed to their respective
duty-stations after 10 days, Mekonen said.
He said the newly recruited civilian guards will be deployed at all campuses and schools of the
university, save the Debre Zeit Veterinary Faculty.
