Axum, July 8,2001 (WIC)- The Zonal Educational Department in Central Zone of Tigray says
that out of 36 schools, most of them built over the year will begin enrolling students as of the
coming academic year in September.
Ato Tigaso Kasahun, Head of Planning and Programme at the Department, said the schools
were part of a 14.1 million birr schools construction and renovation projects undertake during
the concluding budget year.
Tigaso noted that work on 18 other schools part of the 54 schools construction project, is in
good programme, and is expected to be completed before in early September.
Similarly, six schools have been built in six rural facilities of East Gojjam zonem, and have been
readied for service next academic year.
An official at the Zonal Education Department said the schools were among the eight schools
being built at the cost of 3.6 million birr.
