CETU to Establish Own Educational, Training
Addis Ababa, April 5 (WIC) - The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions disclosed that it will establish an Educational and Training Institute in Debre Zeit at a cost of 30 million Birr. In a speech he made while opening the 7th regular conference of ECTU general council today, confederation president Ato Amare Alemayehu said the construction of the institute, whose site selection and design work, has already been completed, will begin sometime later this year.
Ato Amare said the institute construction is being funded by contribution from members of primary associations as well
as from other income sources.
The institute is capable of giving training in management and other skills for 150 trainees at a time.
Ato Amare also disclosed that the confederation during the past six months has made relentless efforts for resolving
According to Ato Amare, CETU has also submitted a 24 page report to the office of the Prime Minister concerning the case
of a number of civil servants dismissed from their jobs while fighting corruption. He said a team of experts has been formed and assigned to sort out matters in collaboration with various trade unions and industrial federation.
Over 80 management members of nine confederations are attending the confederation's conference.
