A project aimed at sensitizing the society on the "appalling" consequences of child labour has been functioning for some time
now, it was learnt.
The project, being undertaken jointly by the Confederation of the Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU) and the International Labour Organization (ILO), focuses mainly on the prevention of children under the age of 15 working in agricultural activities. Close to 4,000 children are reported to be working in "precarious" conditions at six agricultural development enterprises, according to CETU.
