College To Launch Distance Education Programme
Addis Ababa, June 21, 2002 (WIC)- The Ethiopian Civil Service College disclosed that it
was making preparations to launch distance education programme, with an outlay of seven
million US dollars.
Mihirete-Ab Gebre-Sillassie, from the distance education section of the College, told WIC that
the college would launch diploma programmes for Accounting, Management and Law Courses
in the coming February.
He said necessary equipment were being procured to establish video conference centers in
Bahir Dar, Mekelle, Awassa, Nazareth, and Dire Dawa Towns so as to conduct the distance
education through video conferences, the internet and other high- techs.
According to him, 800 Students for Accounting, 500 others for Management and 800 for law
courses would be accepted when the first round distance education programme begins.
He said the distance education programme, to be offered at diploma level, will also have
degree courses, with the addition of other disciplines, after assessing its outcome.
