Commission to Launch 10 Mln. Birr Potable Water Supply Project

WOLDIA, Oct. 29 (WIC) - The Ethiopian Orthodox Church's Christian Cooperation and Development Commission said it has started to draw a plan of action for launching potable water supply and environmental sanitation projects in North Wello zone at a cost of 10.4 million Birr.  It was disclosed during a workshop held in Woldia town for familiarising the plan of action that the projects will be built in Gidan and Weqit woredas of the zone.  The major construction activities include sinking of deep water wells and development of springs, it was learnt.

It was also revealed that training will be given for 318 water technicians drawn from the various woredas for execution of the plan of action while public orientation on environmental health protection will be given for over 223,000 residents.

Over 120 participates drawn from the zonal water, mines and energy department, from the zonal disaster prevention and preparedness department as well as from various implementing agencies attended the workshop.  The commission said it is also working on a plan of action for launching potable water supply projects in central Tigray and North Gondar zones with an outlay of 18.5 million Birr.
