 New curricula for higher education to be completed soon

 

   Addis Ababa, May 11, 2002 (WIC) - The Minister of Education said that the new curricula

   being prepared for higher education would be completed in the beginnings of September.

 

   Minister Genet Zewdie said the new curricula has taken into account the methods with which

   various disciplines are treated in the curricula of the developed countries.

 

   The Minister said that with the view to offering quality education in Ethiopia's higher

   education institutions, efforts were being exerted to help instructors undergo training abroad.

 

   Genet also said that a number of post-graduate programmes were being offered in the higher

   education institutions.

 

   In the effort to raise skilled manpower, vocational and technical courses were being offered in

   126 training institutes and agricultural trainings were being given in 28 others throughout the

   country, she said.

 

   The Minister also said that in the bid to raise well-trained citizens, instructors from China,

   Cuba and India were training students in the technical and vocational training centers.

 

   According to the Minister, there is plan to give civic education to students so as to help raise

   responsible citizens.
