Medical Faculty Graduates 49 Medical Doctors
Addis Ababa, March 18 (ENA)- The Medical Faculty of the Addis Ababa University (AAU) graduated yesterday 49 students with degrees in medical science.
Handing over degrees to the graduates and special awards to those students with academic excellence, AAU Academic
Vice President, Dr. Engineer Hailu Ayele, said about 600 under and post graduate students were currently pursuing their studies at the faculty.
The faculty has established junior training and research centers in Zeway and Butajira towns in the Oromiya and
Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples states, respectively, in an effort to over come the shortage of medium level medical professionals in the country, the vice president said.
He said the faculty, which offers post graduate programmes in 15 fields of study, would soon be restructured as a health science college.
The vice president urged the graduates to contribute their country's health sector development programme in general and in the national anti-HIV/AIDS effort in particular.
The faculty had graduated over 1,300 medical doctors and 600 specialists since its establishment in 1957 E.C.
