Norwegian Save the Children Financing Education In North Gondar
GONDAR, August 29 (WIC) – The Norwegian Save the Children is running a 6.1 million Birr formal and non-formal education programmes in three districts in North Gondar zone, Amhara State.
An education expert at the Zonal Education Department, Ato Neguse Shenkute, said Monday the programmes, which are to last for the coming four years, intend to expand primary and adult education, as well as to provide schools with educational materials.
This year, the NGO provided educational materials to 17 schools, and financed the construction of nine adult education centers, Ato Neguse told a WIC reporter.
Students at the Amba Giorgis School for the blind and the mentally retarded were also given various types of books, published by the NGO, it was noted.
