Relief Being Distributed
Maichew, June 16 (WIC) - Relief food aid is being distributed for 192,000 people affected by food shortage in shothern Tigray zone, the zonal disaster prevention and preparedness department said. Department head Ato Adane Ambaw told WIC that over 25,000 quintals of food has been distributed for the drought hit citizens in eight woredas of the zone.
Over 12,000 quintals of the food aid was obtained from the federal Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Commission (DPPC) while the remaining came from the Catholic Secretariat and the Relief Society of Tigray (REST).
Similarly, an additional 11,000 quintals of relief food aid obtained from the Catholic Secretariat was being distributed for over 77,000 needy citizens in Raya Azebo, Afla and Alamata woredas, it was learnt.
Besides, the Relief Soceity of Tigray has also distributed, 1,877 quintals of food grain for 15,022 affected citizens in Samre, Sahreti, Hintalo Wajirat and Inderta woredas, Ato Adame said.
