A Women's Affairs Standing Committee of the House of Peoples' Representatives Wednesday deliberated on an amended bill

of the family law, according to ENA.

The bill was formulated in line with the provisions stipulated in the Federal Constitution and the International Convention on the

Basic Rights of Children. According to the bill, divorce would be settled in courts and would not be an issue of family

arbitration.

The minimum marital age would be 18 for both sexes and cohabitation has been accorded legal protection, with both parties

claiming equal rights of the ownership of property when suing for separation. Explanations were given by professionals from

concerned departments.
