Report from the Ministry of Education

The Ethiopian government has embarked on a set of political, economic and social reforms that includes the 1994 Education and Training Policy. The policy's main goal is to restructure and expand the educational system to make it more relevant to the present and future needs of the economy.

The Education and Training Policy addresses education from the kindergarten to university levels and extends to special-needs and non-formal education as well. One of the policy's major goals is to achieve universal enrollment in primary school by 2015, while supporting a phased development of the full educational system.
