More Rape Crimes Reported in
METTU, Feb. 24 (WIC) – Thirty-two girl children and women have been raped in Illubabor zone of Oromia State during this year, an official of the zonal justice department disclosed. The official, Ato Aberra Ebisa, told WIC that twelve of the rape victims are under 10 years of age. Ato Aberra indicated that 35 suspected rapists and a woman accomplice have been apprehended by police and have appeared in court.
Meanwhile, Woizero Elleni Kebede, head of the zonal women's affairs office, said rape crime is fast expanding in the zone as no punitive actions are taken against rapists by
concerned public bodies.
A total of 16 girl children were raped in the same zone during the same period last year, it was learnt.
