US Ambassador Presents Books Worth USD $675,000 To Ethiopian Higher Education
Addis Ababa, February 5,2002 (WIC)- U.S. Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy to day presented
books worth USD $675,000 (nearly 6 million Birr) to various government higher education
institutions located throughout Ethiopia.
The institutions who benefited from the donation included the Addis Ababa University, Bahir
Dar University, Dilla College of Teachers Education & Health Science, Jijiga Nursing School,
Jimma University, and Woreda 13 Public Library.
Ambassador Nagy remarked that the donation stands testament to the U. S. Government's
continued commitment to working in partnership with the Ethiopian Government and people to
promote the development of Ethiopia's education and health sectors.
According to a press release by the Embassy Brother's Brother Foundation in the U.S.
organized this book donation in cooperation with the Rotary club of Waynesburg,
Pennsylvania, the Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa.
The Rotary Club of Addis Ababa-Bole coordinated and financed the shipment of the books to
Ethiopia, it was pointed out.
The mission of Brother's Brother Foundation is to distribute donated medical, educational,
agricultural, and humanitarian resources to assist people in need throughout the world.
