AAU to Start Postgraduate Diploma Programmes in All Faculties
Dean of Postgraduate Programmes with the Addis Ababa University (AAU) disclosed that the University has begun preparations to launch postgraduate diploma programmes in all faculties of the University.
The dean, Dr. Yisak Worku told Addis Zemen, the government run Amharic daily, that there are plans to increase the number of graduates in the postgraduate programmes by three fold in the next five years. Accordingly, Dr. Yisak said faculties have been instructed to come up with proposals to start the programme. The postgraduate diploma programme would help increase the number of manpower and upgrade the skill of the graduates. Professionals who acquired their first degrees would increase their capability and demonstrate efficiency in places they work if they are made to undergo the training programme, according to the dean.
He also said those faculties that interrupted their postgraduate programmes due to lack of lecturers and other problems are to resume soon.
Dr. Yisak said 665 million birr is needed to implement the programme.
