18 Schools to Begin Enrolling Students Next Academic Year
AXUM, July 25 (WIC) – The Education Department of the Tigray central zone disclosed that 18 new schools will open their gates to students in the coming academic year.
Ato Tigabu Kassahun, head of planning and programme section of the department, told WIC that the schools were built at the cost of about 6 million Birr during the just concluded fiscal year.
Construction work on one school, which was supposed to be completed during the same period, has not been finalized because of difficulties posed by transportation problems, he said.
The schools are scheduled to enroll 6,786 students starting next academic year, which begins in September.
The zone currently boasts 250 schools, including five secondary schools, excluding the newly constructed once.
