50 Children Orphaned by AIDS Receive Schooling

METTU, Dec. 3 (WIC) - Fifty children orphaned by AIDS in Illubabor zone are reportedly attending school under the auspices of the zonal labour and social affairs department.

Department head, Teferra Giragn told WIC yesterday that the orphaned children, all under 15, were brought to school from 11 districts of the zone.

Ato Tefera said the children are currently assigned in three schools in Mettu town, with all of their expenses covered by the Mecnhen-fur-Menchen humanitarian organisation.

He said the department was now trying to solicit the assistance of religious and humanitarian organisations for the schooling of the over 400 orphaned children in the zone.
