 ODA Offers Reproductive Health Education To 68,000 Mothers

 

 

   Addis Ababa, July 22, 2002 (WIC)- The Oromia Development Association (ODA)disclosed

   that it has given reproductive health education to 68,000 mothers in eastern Wollega and

   Jimma Zones.

 

   General Manager of the Association Awadjibril told walta today that health professionals

   exclusively trained in reproductive health gave the education at health institutions and

   through house to house visits.

 

   The reproductive health education programme is envisaged to raise the awareness of the

   mothers about family planning, he added. 

 

   According to the General Manager, the programme which started last year, will continue for

   five more years. 

 

   Accordingly preparations are being made to start the programme in Illubabor and Western

   Wollega zones, he added.

 

   He said that programmes dealing with HIV/AIDS prevention and transmission mechanisms are

   also underway along with the  reproductive health education progrmmes.

 

   Packard Foundation, earmarked 12 million birr for the execution of the programme, it was

   learnt.
