School Enrollment in Bale Zone Increase by 10,000

Goba, Nov. 14 (WIC) Elementary school enrollment in Bale zone has increased by ten thousand during this academic year, according to the zonal educational department. Ato Yasi Boja, head of the planning and program section of the department, told WIC that the elementary school student population which stood at 129,000 last year has risen to 139,600 this year.

According to Ato Yasi, the dramatic increase in student population became possible following the construction of 36 new schools and expansion of others undertaken with 8.8 million Birr obtained from the government, the Oromia Development Association and the Ethiopian Social Rehabilitation and Development Fund.

He also disclosed that the zonal educational coverage which stood at 44.1 per cent last year has been raised to 47.2 per cent at present.
