20 Elementary Schools Built In The Somali Regional State
Jijiga, July 10, 2002 (WIC)- The Somali Branch Office of the Ethiopian Social Rehabilitation
and Development Fund (ESRDF) has completed the construction of 20 of the 28 elementary
schools it had launched in the State with an outlay of 10 million Birr.
Branch Office General Manager Mohammed Reshid told Walta that the schools were built in
areas where there are no educational institutions.
According to the General Manager, the schools have finalized the necessary preparations to
enroll more than 10,000 students next year.
The construction of the remaining eight primary schools was being expedited, he noted.
He also said that the financial and material contribution from the local community accounted
for ten per cent of the total outlay earmarked for the construction of the schools.
